The division welcomed Laurence Beck, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, on October 2. During Renal Grand Rounds, he delivered an engaging translational talk entitled, “A Closer Look at the Autoantigens of Primary Membranous Nephropathy.”
Dr. Beck was the first to identify the cPLA2 receptor as an important autoantigen in membranous nephropathy in 2009. This discovery led to serum tests and biopsy stains that are in clinical use today providing an excellent example of ‘bench-to-bedside’ translation.
