Sanjay Jain, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, won the inaugural Kidney Challenge Grant co-sponsored by the Center of Regenerative Medicine and the Division of Nephrology. Jain’s grant, entitled, “New frontiers in making kidneys and understanding kidney disease,” focuses on the development on human pluripotent stem cell lines that will be useful in generating kidney and ureteric structures in vitro. Ultimately, this approach could contribute to the ability to transplant kidney or lower tract organs into humans. The Jain Lab focuses on development and disease of the urogenital and nervous systems.
