WashU Nephrology welcomes Brittany Barbour, MSW, LCSW, our new Social Worker at Chromalloy Kidney Center.
Brittany, who is from Bloomington, Illinois, completed her undergraduate work at Northern Illinois University in 2009. She was an Americorps volunteer in Olympia, Washington, for three years before she moved to St. Louis in 2012 to attend graduate school at WashU. She earned a master of social work (MSW) in 2014 and her licensed master of social work (LCSW) in 2022.
In addition to her studies before joining us at Chromalloy, Brittany worked at Places for People for 8 ½ years, providing and managing outreach support for unhoused individuals experiencing mental health concerns in St. Louis.
In her free time, Brittany prefers an active lifestyle. A big fan of road trips, Brittany drove back and forth from Illinois to Olympia multiple times on her own when she lived in Washington. However, her current passion revolves around her beloved dog, Bear.
Bear is a 10-year-old Pit/Lab mix Brittany adopted from Stray Rescue in 2015. “We love to go hiking, swimming, camping, and do pretty much anything outdoors.”
Living near Tower Grove Park is a bonus for Brittany, “It is probably my favorite place in all of St. Louis.”
Brittany also enjoys spending time with her niece, Ellie (9), and nephews, Jack (6) and Cal (3), and is excited about the upcoming Olympics and “cheering the United States Women’s Soccer National Team!”
