Congratulations to Thomas Gowen, Jr, RN, and Patrice Finnie, RN, on their new roles as nurse administrators at three WashU Nephrology dialysis centers.
Gowen will be the new nurse administrator of our Forest Park Kidney Center ICHD (in-center hemodialysis), and Finnie will take over the role as nurse administrator at two centers, Village Square Dialysis Center ICHD in Hazelwood and the North County Dialysis Center ICHD in Florissant, MO.
Gowen joined WashU Nephrology in 2019 as the nurse manager at our North County Dialysis Center. In 2023, he transitioned to the same role at the newly opened Village Square Dialysis Center. The Forest Park Dialysis Center, located at 4205 Forest Park Avenue near the Barnes/WashU medical campus, is a mainstay of our dialysis centers and has 32 in-center dialysis stations.
Finney will be taking over as nurse administrator for our two North County, community-based dialysis centers. In 2023, with over 25 years of nursing experience and a decade of expertise, she took on the role of nurse manager at North County Dialysis in 2023. The facility is a 16-station, in-center hemodialysis unit that has the capability for home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis training and support. It has the potential to eventually accommodate 90 in-center hemodialysis patients and up to 40 home modalities patients.
The Village Square Dialysis Center is our latest endeavor to provide convenient, state-of-the-art kidney services to our patients in the greater St. Louis area. The facility has 16 in-center dialysis stations and boasts a home dialysis training center along with a kidney disease education program. The center, designed to exude a warm and inviting esthetic, has an open atmosphere with lots of windows in the treatment area, and boasts easy accessibility with regards to parking. The center’s home modality department, run by Shawna McMichael, BSN, RN, offers home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
