Forest Park Kidney Center Inaugural Chili Cookoff

Who has the tastiest chili? From left: Ashley Clymer, Katie Blackwell, Natalie Carlson, and Brittany Barbour.

“I felt like I was a judge on one of those TV cooking shows,” says Thomas Gowen, Nurse Administrator of our Forest Park Kidney Center outpatient hemodialysis unit. “It was so much fun!” The center recently hosted its first Chili Cookoff, with Gowen, Maria Carter (Medical Secretary III), and Lexi Morris (Dialysis Technician III) serving as judges of the four entries.

Special thanks go to Brittany Barbour, MSW, LSCW, Clinical Social Worker, for coordinating the friendly competition that brought colleagues together.  “Nothing beats a hot bowl of chili on a cold day!” she says.  Of course, they also had hot dogs for chili dogs, cornbread, and all the fixings.

Katie Blackwell took first prize.

Taking her last-place finish in stride, Barbour laughed, “It was a fun event! We hope to make the cookoff an annual November tradition.”

Congratulations to the Chili Cookoff Champions!
