Naoka Murakami, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, WashU Nephrology, will present “Nephrology in Cancer Care: From Kidney Toxicity to Advances in Onconephrology” at the Department of Medicine’s Medicine Grand Rounds on Thursday, September 17, 2026, noon- 1 p.m., in the Wohl Clinic Clopton Auditorium at 4950 Children’s Place.
This lecture will be recorded and uploaded to the Department of Medicine website; CME and MOC will be available for those unable to attend in person. Lunch will be available outside of the auditorium.
A physician-scientist and transplant nephrologist, Dr. Murakami studies co‑stimulatory signaling in autoimmune disease and kidney transplant rejection and tolerance, and she has extensive expertise in onconephrology. She led an international multicenter study examining outcomes of kidney transplant recipients treated with immune checkpoint blockade and is a founding member of the American Society of Onconephrology.
Murakami plays an active role in training future physician‑scientists through programs such as the WashU Nephrology Summer SOAR Program, which she directs. She was recently honored by the American Society of Transplantation (AST) for her outstanding contributions to transplant nephrology (more here).
