Tarek Alhamad to Serve on KPCOP Executive Committee

Division of Nephrology Assistant Professor of Medicine Tarek Alhamad has been elected to serve a two-year term as a Committee Member-at-Large on the Kidney Pancreas Community of Practice (KPCOP) Executive Committee.

Members of the KPCOP Executive Committee advise the American Society of Transplantation (AST) Board of Directors on its goal of promoting research, education, advocacy, and kidney and pancreas organ donation.

The Communities of Practice are unique, specialty-area focused groups within AST that provide the opportunity for members to network with others sharing a common interest in transplantation. The Kidney Pancreas Community was added to the community roster in 2015.

Dr. Alhamad’s term will begin immediately following the 2017 American Transplant Congress (ATC) meeting. The 2017 meeting will be held at the McCormick Place-Lakeside Center in Chicago, Illinois, April 29-May 3.

Dr. Alhamad says, “It will be a great interaction with the transplant leaders from around the US to address important topics to the transplant community such as improving the long term outcomes of kidney transplant, medication adherence, and failing rates of pancreas transplantation.”
