Transplant Nephrologist Tarek Alhamad Named Associate Director for DOM Faculty Development and Well Being

Tarek Alhamad will focus on expanding the curriculum of the Office of Faculty Development and Well Being in the Department of Medicine at WashU.

Tarek Alhamad, MD, MPH, MBA, has been named the Associate Director for the Office of Faculty Development and Well Being (OFD) in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Alhamad is Associate Professor of Medicine, Nephrology, and Medical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs at WashU/Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

The Department of Medicine created the OFD in 2013 to support faculty members in their careers, providing them with resources and guidance to foster professional and personal growth and development in clinical care, education, research, and leadership.  Led by Milan Anadkat, MD, the OFD recently expanded its office to include two Associate Directors, Dr. Alhamad as well as Alison Antes, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine in the General Medical Sciences Division and Director of Education in the Bioethics Research Center, to enhance the culture, climate, and career success of faculty within the Department.

The OFD hosts the department’s annual new faculty orientation, provides workshops and seminars geared toward appointments and promotions, professional development and the well-being of the faculty. Read more about the new leadership at the OFD here.

“My main focus will be to expand the curriculum of the OFD and make it as a monthly seminar. This will include lectures and workshops that support faculty development at different levels.”
