Katherine Tuttle (L) with her husband and daughter

Our Alumni Connection shines a light on Katherine R. Tuttle, MD, FASN, FACP, FNKF, a former WashU fellow (1985-1986).  Dr. Tuttle is now the Executive Director for Research Providence Inland Northwest Health, and Professor of Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Kidney Research Institute University of Washington School of Medicine.

Home hemodialysis machines are small enough to fit on a bedside table.

We’re also thrilled to highlight the success of our exceptional Home Modalities Program.   The portability of home dialysis machines enables flexibility and more frequent dialysis, which keeps
patients as healthy as possible. Home dialysis (including peritoneal dialysis) allows ESRD patients to have a smoother transition into kidney transplantation, if they choose.

In 2024, the program achieved a remarkable milestone: successfully transitioning 26% of home dialysis patients to transplant!

The newsletter also includes the latest on our division’s grants, honors and cutting-edge research.
