The Division of Nephrology welcomes Reena Gurung, MD, who joins us as a first-year nephrology fellow. Reena earned her medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences at Kathmandu University in Nepal and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. In 2015, Reena came to Washington University School of Medicine as an instructor in medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine.
The diverse experience Reena gained working as a hospitalist nurtured two facets of medicine important to her: holistic patient care and teaching. Reena enjoyed teaching residents and medical students rotating on hospital medicine and valued her time as a preceptor during Practice of Medicine sessions for second-year medical students and volunteer primary care clinic.
Reena entered the Nephrology Fellowship Program at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, in 2019 and transferred to WashU’s Nephrology Fellowship Program in Feb 2020.
“It is such a privilege to be a part of the diverse and thriving medical community of WashU,” she says. “The past few years here have fostered my clinical growth and I am excited that nephrology fellowship will further enrich the experience”.
In her off time, Reena enjoys reading, being outdoors and traveling.
