Yazan Kharabsheh, MD

I aim to establish an empathetic and supportive relationship with each patient, ensuring that they feel heard, understood, and actively involved in their treatment decisions, and by taking an extra step in transplant nephrology, I am committed to guiding patients throughout their entire journey.”
Yazan joins our Nephrology Transplant Fellowship Program after completing his nephrology fellowship (2024-2026) here at WashU Nephrology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine, Jordan, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Thomas Hospital Infirmary Health in Fairhope, Alabama.
From the beginning of his training, Yazan has shown a deep interest in research and education, and during his fellowship at WashU, Yazan continued to grow academically. He recently completed the Washington University Teaching Physicians Pathway, developing a dialysis medical directorship curriculum designed to equip future nephrology fellows with foundational leadership and administrative skills.
At the National Kidney Foundation St. Louis Fellows Forum 2026, Yazan presented on C3 glomerulopathy during the session on advances in glomerulonephritis. He also presented an abstract at the American Transplant Congress 2026, discussing the emerging role of bispecific T‑cell engagers in kidney transplant recipients.
In his downtime, Yazan enjoys traveling, biking, and hiking.
Selva Saravanan Saminathan, MBBS, MD, MRCP

Selva joins our Nephrology Transplant Fellowship Program with broad, international experience in renal medicine. He completed his MBBS at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Tamil Nadu, India, followed by his MD in General Medicine at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi. He served as a senior resident at PGIMER Chandigarh and DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences before moving to London as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital. He then completed four years of renal medicine training under the KSS–South London Deanery. Most recently, he served as a Consultant in Renal Medicine at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Teaching and mentorship are central to Selva’s professional identity. He works closely with trainees at different stages, designs structured teaching programs, and values clear, pragmatic education that bridges evidence with real-world practice. “I’m particularly interested in developing clinicians who think critically, communicate well, and understand healthcare beyond the bedside,” he says.
Selva’s academic achievements are extensive. He has presented at local, national, and international meetings, including APICON, ICE‑SEMSDA, and the American College of Physicians India Chapter. He has earned numerous gold medals and academic awards dating back to his school years, including Training Doctor Educator of the Year (2023) and Junior Doctor of the Year (2023) at East Kent University Hospitals.
His research includes work on thyroid dysfunction in CKD, adverse drug reactions in ICU patients, and hyperferritinemia in dengue fever, where he served as corresponding author. He also participated in the H4RT Trial as an Associate Principal Investigator, comparing cardiovascular outcomes between hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration.
Outside of medicine, Selva has a strong interest in long-term planning, travel, and endurance running – areas that reflect his broader approach to life: deliberate, curious, and built for the long term.
