World Kidney Day, a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations, is a global campaign to raise awareness of kidney health and reduce the frequency of kidney disease.
World Kidney Day is a yearly event celebrated around the world through hundreds of events such as kidney screenings and marathons. The theme for 2017 is “Kidney Disease and Obesity.”
Dr. Malone spoke about the important functions of the kidney, the link between obesity and kidney disease, maintaining a healthy lifestyle to reduce kidney disease and the need for regular screenings for kidney disease.
