Kathryn Riner Named New Clinic Manager of Village Square Dialysis Center

Kathryn Riner: “I know every person plays an important role in the work we do in taking excellent care of our patients.”

Congratulations to Kathryn Riner, MS, RD, LD, who will serve as Clinic Manager at our newest dialysis unit, Village Square Dialysis Center in Hazelwood, MO, effective September 1, 2025.  Kathryn, who joined WashU Nephrology in 2023 as a registered dietitian and nutritionist, brings a wealth of expertise, compassion, and leadership to her new role.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in health and sports studies from Miami University, Kathryn went on to complete a dietetic internship from Saint Louis University.  Continuing her studies at SLU, she earned a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics.  After working nearly 17 years at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis, she joined the WashU Nephrology team.

Kathryn has long been passionate about helping patients cultivate a positive relationship with food, one that supports their overall well-being and makes nutrition an essential part of their medical care.  In 2024, she was one of three invited speakers at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Renal Patient Symposium, where she presented “Promoting a Healthy Relationship with Food While Living with Chronic Kidney Disease.”

Says Max Edele, our Director of Clinical Operations: “Kathryn’s dedication to her patients and her leadership skills were recognized early on.  Since joining our team, she has covered several units as a dietitian, provided nutrition consults to our CKD patients, and played an instrumental role in uplifting our policy for the management of anemia and the creation and implementation of our Registered Dietitian Anemia Managers.”

In her new role as Clinic Manager, Kathryn is enthusiastic about supporting her team and fostering a collaborative environment.  “I know every person plays an important role in the work we do in taking excellent care of our patients,” she says.  “I plan on optimizing both the patient and employee experience by focusing on safety, staffing, and celebrating one another’s successes and accomplishments.”
