Nephrology Business Leadership University: A Must-Attend Experience Endorsed by WashU Fellow Yasir Baloch

Yasir Baloch took home the social media award at NBLU 2024.

Yasir Baloch, MBBS, currently in his second year of the WashU Fellowship Program, describes his rewarding experience at last year’s Nephrology Business Leadership University (NBLU) in the video below.

The popular NBLU brings together nephrology professionals to prepare senior fellows for the economics and business aspects of their future careers in nephrology.  All six senior fellows from our division, Drs. Atlee BakerYasir BalochAlex CalderonFelina DassAudrey Netzel, and Olga Postovitenko, participated in event in 2024 (more here).

“I highly recommend the NBLU conference to any second-year nephrology fellow, whether their career path leads to academics or private practice,” says Baloch.  “It’s a unique opportunity where most second-year fellows from across the country converge for five days of invaluable experiences. The conference is not only packed with fun, team activities, and laughter but also offers crucial insights into the real-world dynamics of nephrology that are often overlooked in fellowship training.”

Baloch, who has a background in photography and videography and oversees our recently-launched Instagram account, @WashUNephrology, emphasizes that the NBLU is “one of the best conferences to attend during your fellowship” and highly recommends it to any future applicants.

Because of his social media expertise, the NBLU has invited Baloch to serve as a facilitator for the upcoming year!
