Dr. Steven Cheng is a two-time recipient of the Jane Phillips-Conroy Professor of the Year Award.

Congratulations to Steven Cheng, MD, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, and Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, on receiving the Jane Phillips-Conroy Professor of the Year Award, one of the Distinguished Service Teaching Awards (DSTAs) at Washington University School of Medicine.

Selected directly by Phase 1 medical students, this award recognizes a faculty member whose teaching has made an exceptional impact across the entire pre‑clinical curriculum.

Named in honor of Jane Phillips-Conroy, PhD, Professor Emerita at Washington University, the award celebrates her decades of influential teaching and her significant contributions to the fields of neuroscience and anthropology before retiring from WashU in 2017.  Dr. Cheng was a previous recipient of this award for the academic year 2021-2022.

“Receiving the Jane Phillips-Conroy award is such an honor. I remember Dr. Jane Phillips-Conroy teaching and inspiring entire generations of students early in my career, and I aspire to be an educator who can convey that same infectious joy of science and medicine.  To be recognized with an award bearing her name is humbling!”
