Award Recognition

Marcos Rothstein Receives 2026 Dean’s Impact Award

“I am very honored by this award,” says Dr. Marcos Rothstein on being named a recipient of the 2026 Dean’s Impact Award.

Marcos Rothstein, MD, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, has been named a 2026 recipient of the Dean’s Impact Award.  Established in 2023, the annual award recognizes individuals whose extraordinary service and leadership strengthen the clinical care, education, and research missions of WashU Medicine.

The theme of this year’s award, “Honoring the Focused Excellence of Exemplary Clinicians and Researchers,” celebrates faculty whose work elevates the practice of medicine and contributes meaningfully to the health of the communities they serve.

Dr. Rothstein’s recognition highlights his decades‑long dedication to patient‑centered nephrology care, his leadership in device-based treatment of hypertension, and his commitment to mentoring trainees. For over 25 years he has provided care to the underserved St. Louis community as a founding medical director and volunteer doctor at Casa de Salud.  Rothstein also serves as co‑organizer of the Annual Update in Nephrology Symposium, a collaboration between WashU Nephrology and its official Sister Renal Center, the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS). The conference highlights ongoing efforts to address the burden of chronic kidney disease in Latin America.
