Jane Stromberg, MSW, and Tingting Li, MD, are once again co-captains of Wash Ur Kidneys, the Washington University nephrology team participating in the annual St. Louis Kidney Walk, to be held 12:30-2 pm, March 24, 2019, at Westport Plaza.
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) sponsors the fundraiser, the nation’s largest walking event. More than 5,500 teams from across the country will walk to raise funds and help the NKF expand the public conversation from kidney disease to kidney health. The goal this year is to raise $155,000.
Ms. Stromberg is a member of the Council of Nephrology Social Workers, which works closely with the NKF. “The NKF promotes advocacy, provides KEEP screenings to educate, and offers a peer-to-peer program,” she says. “Patients, family members, medical professionals, educators and many more join the walk to stand united to raise awareness. I believe the walk is a great way to show the Division of Nephrology’s support throughout the community.”
Also co-captain for a second year, Dr. Li says, “The WU Division of Nephrology is a national leader in the fight against kidney disease. Jane and I are proud to represent our division to raise awareness for kidney disease and to make a difference in the lives of many of our patients affected by kidney disease.”
All WU faculty, staff and patients are welcome to participate by walking, volunteering or donating. Help us represent WU!
The Wash Ur Kidneys team fundraising goal this year is $5,000. Donation of any amount to our team is welcome. Anyone who donates $20 or more will receive a beautiful Wash Ur Kidneys T-shirt. To join the team or to donate, visit the Wash Ur Kidneys’ team page. Email Jane Stromberg to give her your T-shirt size: stromberg@wustl.edu
The Wash Ur Kidneys team name was chosen for the 2018 Kidney Walk and was the brainchild of Cheryl Cress, RN, and Shawna McMichael, RN, from Forest Park Home Modalities.
