ASN has added another dedicated site – the AKI Community – to its line of discussion groups, and nephrologist Anitha Vijayan, MD, FASN, Professor of Medicine in our division, will be one of the initial co-moderators guiding the conversation.

“The AKI community subgroup was created specifically to provoke thoughtful discussion among community members who have a special interest in the field of AKI, “says Vijayan.  “We hope to bring together colleagues interested in clinical, scientific, educational and public policy aspects of AKI.”

Each week, two experts in the field will moderate the discussion.  “In the first week we will be inviting members to provide suggestions for topics for ASN sessions in 2017. We will also discuss implications of the Trade Bill with regards to its potential impact on clinical care of patients with AKI, as they transition from in-patient to out-patient dialysis centers,” says Dr. Vijayan.  “I am very excited about being the co-moderator for the first week of launch!”

The AKI Community joins a growing list of ASN Communities that include Basic Science Research, Division Chiefs’ Exchange, Onco-Nephrology, Open Forum, Patient Care Q&A, and Supportive Care.
