Monica Chang-Panesso, inaugural recipient of the Perlmutter Career Development Professorship

Monica Chang-Panesso, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, WashU Medicine Division of Nephrology, will be ceremonially installed as the inaugural recipient of the Roger M. Perlmutter Career Development Professorship. The event will take place on March 20th at 4:30 pm at the Eric P. Newman Education Center (EPNEC).

This prestigious endowed professorship was made possible through a generous $2 million gift from the Merck Foundation. It honors Roger Perlmutter, MD, PhD – a globally renowned physician-scientist and Washington University alumnus, who later served as Executive Vice President and President of Merck Research Laboratories.

The endowment aims to empower and support aspiring physician-scientists from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine and science, fostering their journey toward becoming independent investigators.

Since joining WashU Nephrology in 2015, Chang-Panesso has demonstrated a passion for bench research in addition to her clinical duties.  Learn more about Dr. Chang-Panesso and and her research.
